It’s only Saturday night and the deadline deals that were supposed to start going down on Monday, per every MLB source, have started prematurely! It’s like running down the stairs on December 20th and having presents from Santa that say “open 5 days early”.

Well, I don’t mind if I do! So, let’s see who that first gift is…

Fuck yes!

Sergio Romo isn’t going to be the end of deals for the Twins and may not even count as one of the two “big time” bullpen guys I expect us to wrangle in, but he is definitely an improvement AND he brings THREE World Series rings to the clubhouse. As Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage points out, he’s been damn good since April too.

The Twins had to send Lewin Diaz packing his bags for Miami in the deal. Once seen as a possible starting 1st baseman of the future, Diaz is now 22, playing in AA, and has dropped to 30th on the Twins’ prospect rankings.

This also may give Falvine some negotiating power with other arms he’s trying to bring in because we are now less desperate in the bullpen. That will help on the field right away too…

Oh, and as for the other prospect that we got in the trade… well some aren’t convinced that he should rank lower that Lewin Diaz, when put up against everyone in the MiLB…
