NASCAR is exciting, boring and scary all at the same time… but today, to finish the Daytona 500, the latter of those 3 was on display.

Ryan Newman (#6 car) was riding in the top-3 before being bumped from behind in the wrong spot, before flipping over the field behind him.

The worst came at the end though, when he slides for what seems like forever on the drivers-side door, with sparks being thrown in every direction, before that entire side of the car goes up in flames.

It’s a scary sight.

We don’t have any updates at this moment… but the NASCAR and sports world is holding their collective breath, as we wait for positive news on the state of Ryan Newman.

UPDATE: 9:10 PM

It looks like Ryan Newman’s injuries won’t be life threatening, as he get further evaluated at the hospital. At least for now, we can take a deep breath while we wait for more updates…
