The Minnesota Wild are getting stomped in Ottawa on Saturday night. Of course, they are trying to do so without superstar Kirill Kaprizov in the lineup after he exited the lineup with the same lower body injury he has been dealing with for the past month+.

Kirill Kaprizov surgery successful

On Saturday, before the game in Ottawa, head coach John Hynes met with media where he gave an update on Kirill Kaprizov and other injured Wild players. There, he told reporters that Kaprizov’s surgery was completed on Friday and deemed a success. His timeline to return — a minimum of four weeks — remains the same.

Prior to leaving the Minnesota Wild lineup in late December, Kirill Kaprizov had the best odds in the NHL to win MVP (Hart). Obviously, that is not a possibility anymore. Thankfully, he is expected to return before the season is over so he can add onto his 23 goals and 29 assists (52 points).

Four weeks from today puts Kaprizov’s recovery schedule at March 1. If that’s his return date, Kirill would still have over 20 games before the NHL Playoffs. There is a lot of time and plenty of games to be played between now and then.

But as long as his recovery goes as planned, the MN Wild will have a good amount of runway to jockey for position in the West and prepare for the postseason, upon his return.

Minnesota Wild soon to get Brodin, Johansson back

Meanwhile, according to their head coach, the MN Wild are hoping to get Jonas Brodin and Marcus Johansson back much sooner. Like, as soon as Tuesday when they play in Boston vs the Bruins, to finish up their current five-game road trip.

Jonas Brodin last played for the Minnesota Wild on January 7. He has 4 goals and 12 assists (16 points) on the season. Marcus Johansson hasn’t seen the lineup since January 15. He has 5 goals and 11 assists (16 points) on the season.
