Matt Boldy Signs 7-Year Extension With Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Wild general manager, Bill Guerin, doesn’t hesitate to lock his best young players down long term, when he sees an opportunity. That proved true again on Monday morning when the Wild signed 21-year-old forward Matt Boldy to a 7-year contract extension worth $7 million per season ($49 million total).

In his second NHL season, the former 12th overall pick has collected 29 points (12 goals, 17 assists) good for 4th on the team. In 89 career games, he’s posted 68 points (27 goals, 41 assists) for a plus-17 rating.
Matt Boldy: a future superstar
This is a big signing for the Minnesota Wild. It doesn’t take a hockey guy/gal to see what Matt Boldy brings to the club. He’s noticeably the 2nd most skilled player on roster behind superstar, Kirill Kaprizov.
According to The Athletic, he’s already worth the $7 million per season he just agreed to and he hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he is capable of. This looks like another great decision and personnel move by Billy G.
Matt Boldy's market value is already $7 million, and he hasn't even peaked yet in Minnesota. The Wild going 7×7 this early into the winger's career should pay off pic.twitter.com/FQJQczLlOv
