BC Sophomore Matt Boldy Turns Pro; Signs Entry Level Contract with Minnesota Wild

Boston College forward Matt Boldy is turning pro and signing with the Minnesota Wild. He’ll immediately join the AHL squad in Iowa, burning the first of his three year entry-level contract. Boldy’s new contract makes him $700,000 this season, with a chance to get up and over $900K in years two and three, if he is playing up with the NHL club.

Boldy had a solid two-year college career, after a slow start to his freshman season and could possibly help the big club in St. Paul immediately. But that opportunity could be on hold thanks to major Minnesota Wild salary cap issues. As of now, they’d struggle to fit him onto the NHL roster and stay under the cap.

That won’t matter come playoffs… but that’d be one hell of a time to throw Matt Boldy into the fire. Stay tuned…
