Vikings’ Sugarman Tests Positive for COVID-19 the Day Before Veteran Players Start to Report
The Minnesota Vikings will be forced to navigate the next few weeks of the offseason without an important member of their staff. Longtime head athletic trainer and Vice-President of Sports Medicine Eric Sugarman announced via a press statement that he and his family have tested positive for COVID-19.

BIG SHOES TO FILL
Sugarman has been critical to developing a strategy for the organization to follow during COVID-19. This all comes as Vikings veterans prepare to report to the facility Tuesday.
Sugarman’s role as head athletic trainer is important enough. But as head of disease control, he will be vital to the team as the season unfolds. According to the Vikings’ statement, Sugarman hasn’t been in contact with anyone else in the organization. The hope is that Sugarman will be able to rejoin the team in ten days. Sugarman explained he had mild symptoms, and asked everyone to practice proper protocols.
In light of Eric Sugarman’s positive COVID-19, Vikings are moving forward with reporting day for veteran players tomorrow. Vets are still expected to show up on the mandatory report day and get their first coronavirus test.

EMERGENCY PLANS STILL AWAITING APPROVAL
This also comes with the Vikings waiting for approval from the league on their plan for when players report. And hopefully, Sugarman will be able to recover quickly and rejoin the team.
