Even though they’re working with a limited amount of draft capital after aggressively targeting Dallas Turner in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings have been active in trade discussions this year. Recently, they added RB Cam Akers and LT Cam Robinson. However, now there’s further speculation that another Vikings trade could be coming.

Once Kwesi Adofo-Mensah addressed finding an injury replacement for Christian Darrisaw, many assumed the Minnesota Vikings could be done swinging trades ahead of the Nov. 5 deadline. But even though a 5-0 start quickly spiraled to 5-2, it’s possible the Vikings are still looking to remain aggressive in trade discussions this season.

According to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson, the Vikings are still confident that this team can be a top contender in the NFC, and they may be looking to capitalize on their early momentum.

“I’ll be surprised if they don’t do anything else, They view the NFC being pretty darn wide open… the way they view it internally, they can still make a run in January.”

Even though they’ve addressed their biggest needs due to injury, the Vikings still have plenty of room for growth. One particular area that the front office still wants to improve is along the defensive line, where the Vikings have few long-term contributors.

While the Vikings could add a star defensive lineman in the 2025 NFL Draft, if all goes well, Minnesota’s first-round draft selection won’t come until the late 20s or early 30s. So, identifying a long-term solution now via the trade block could make a lot more sense.

Another area the Vikings could target is another cornerback in the secondary. Stephon Gilmore, Shaq Griffin, and Byron Murphy are all set to become free agents at the end of the season, leaving Brian Flores’ defense incredibly thin at the cornerback position. So, once again, finding a cornerback who can contribute for multiple seasons could be one of the many positions the Vikings are still hunting for.
