Why can’t former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs do one interview where he doesn’t talk about his past? There’s a reason why reporters ask him more questions about his past stops in the National Football League more than others are asked the same types of questions.
It’s been over four years since the Vikings traded Diggs to Buffalo and he’s since forced his way out of that situation too. Yet, he can’t stop talking about either of his past teams, no matter how much time passes.
This time around, Diggs was asked about his relationship with one of his former QB in Buffalo, Josh Allen. He praised the young QB as being, really, the only reason why he was able to make it through his time “out there” in cold, desolate up-state New York. And he didn’t stop there.

Apparently, playing for the Bills was so bad that he questions whether the Minnesota Vikings traded him there (back in 2020) just to spite him. Diggs told reporters that he always felt he could be better than what he was in Minnesota (strays fired).
Then, he notes that Rick Spielman & Co may have shipped him from the cold Twin Cities, to cold and desolate Buffalo, mostly because they knew Stefon wouldn’t like it there. Not because the Bills were offering the best trade package or anything..
“I feel like [Josh Allen] was an intricate piece of my career. Because, at that point, when I left Minnesota or whatever, I was a good player, but I always felt more for myself. I felt like I was better than that, that I could be better than that.
I was just like, ‘s—, I’m gonna roll the dice and bet on myself,’ you know what I’m sayin? And they sent me to Buffalo. Umm… I don’t know if they sent me to Buffalo with the most kindest, greatest intent, but all’s well that ends well.”

I mean, how conceded does an athlete have to be, in order to believe that their trade destination had more to do with his former team trying to spite him, than that team trying to get as much of a return on their investment as possible?
Why try to build a Super Bowl winning roster when you have an opportunity to ruin the life of a former player instead, right? It’s the most nonsensical, unaware thought process I’ve ever heard of.
Josh Allen was the only reason Stefon Diggs was able to stand being in Buffalo
When he departed Buffalo, Stefon Diggs thanked fans for everything they gave to him and the Bills, while he was there. But he made it clear in this press conference that Josh Allen was the only thing that made his stay in upper New York palatable. “People don’t really understand what it’s like to be out there [in Buffalo].
“When I got to Buffalo, Josh was and still is my guy. People don’t really understand what it’s like to be out there. He really embraced me. He kind of had that southern hospitality. We spent a lot of time together and I probably wouldn’t be right here if it wasn’t for him. I got a lot of love for that boy.”

When media members ask Stefon Diggs questions about the Vikings or Bills, like someone did above, he gives answers that make people money. That is why they continue to ask him these questions and why he continues to end up on our website nearly five years later. He cannot help himself.

There may be no player in the NFL more petty and driven by his own selfishness than Stefon Diggs. The other Stephon (Marbury) might be the only other star to have graced this market who stands on his level, in that respect.
How you could look in the mirror, after forcing your way out of two really good situations, and point fingers at everyone else goes beyond pettiness, though. It’s narcissism. That’s really the only way to explain it.
