Now that the Super Bowl is in the books, the NFL offseason takes center stage, though that was already the case for the Minnesota Vikings. With a bunch of key players hitting free agency, this team has some franchise altering decisions ahead. Who will they bring back, and who might they target on the open market?

Let’s start at quarterback, where the Vikings have the best QB hitting the market, in Sam Darnold, who led the Vikings to a 14-win 2024 season. Where he’ll land next is still up in the air, and there’s a small chance he stays in Minnesota, though it’s unlikely.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, another quarterback was informed he’ll be testing the market this offseason, and there are very smart people out there who believe he could be the guy who takes Darnold’s place…

Aaron Rodgers to the Minnesota Vikings, how possible is it?

Future Hall of Famer and longtime NFC North rival Aaron Rodgers just got some big news from the New York Jets over the weekend. After two seasons in the Big Apple, they aren’t bringing him back. And if Rodgers decides he’s not ready to hang it up yet oddsmakers over at DraftKings give the Minnesota Vikings the fourth-best in the league to land the 4X MVP.

Even though the New York Jets ended last season with a 5-12 record, Aaron Rodgers still proved he can sling the ball. He threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions, showcasing he’s still got plenty of gas in the tank.

Only three teams have better odds: the Steelers, Raiders, and 49ers. Pittsburgh has both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson expected to hit the market, the Raiders are in need of a quarterback, and the 49ers have Brock Purdy, who’s in line for a contract extension this offseason.

These odds aren’t crazy, this could actually happen. If Sam Darnold signs elsewhere, the Vikings might consider bringing in Aaron Rodgers on a short-term deal. That would give J.J. McCarthy more time to develop and fully recover before stepping in as the franchise quarterback.

Even ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned the possibility of Rodgers joining the Vikings today on the Pat McAfee Show.

Brett Favre pulled it off, winning three MVPs and a Super Bowl with the Packers before leaving for the Jets and his short stint went south. But then he bounced back for one last run, taking the Vikings to the NFC Championship in 2009. Now, the question is: Will Aaron Rodgers follow the same path? No one knows for sure, but it’s definitely something worth keeping an eye on.
