Tomorrow is Monday, March 10, which marks the start of the NFL’s legal tampering period in free agency. That means we’ll likely start hearing about deals getting done. However, nothing becomes official until Wednesday when free agency officially opens, and players can put pen to paper.

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daniel Jones, who joined the team midway through last season after being cut by the New York Giants, but he never saw the field for the Vikings. However, that could change next season if he decides to re-sign with Minnesota.

Daniel Jones to choose between Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts

Its sounding like Daniel Jones is set to make his decision tomorrow on where he’ll play in 2025, and it’s down to two teams: the Minnesota Vikings and the Indianapolis Colts, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini.

As Russini pointed out, Daniel Jones is 27 years old and has plenty of experience as a starting quarterback. The Giants took the former Duke Blue Devil with the sixth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He went on to start 69 games in New York, throwing for 14,582 yards, 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

A deeper look into Jones’ big decision

The Daniel Jones led Giants made the playoffs just once while he was under center, back in 2022, a notorious victory vs the Minnesota Vikings that cost Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman their jobs and landed Daniel Jones a four-year $160 million extension the Giants regretted shortly after it got signed.

Jones might have a shot at competing for the starting job in both Minnesota and Indianapolis. With the Vikings, he’d be up against an unproven redshirt freshman NFL QB coming off of a meniscus injury, in Michigan National Championship winner JJ McCarthy.

In Indianapolis, Daniel Jones would be up against 2023 4th overall pick Anthony Richardson, who has gotten multiple opportunities with the Colts to prove himself as a competent NFL starter. Yet, he has failed to grab hold of a QB1 job they’ve been trying to hand him, even getting benched in favor of Joe Flacco in 2024.

If it comes down to which team would provide a better chance of being named the starting quarterback, out of training camp, you’d have to think Jones would be more interested in the Colts. But if Daniel Jones wants stability and a chance to improve his QB stock for next offseason, then the Vikings may very well still be his best option.
