The Minnesota Vikings are Better than the Chicago Bears

The Minnesota Vikings are resting up during their scheduled week 6 bye. After a hard fought win against the New York Jets in London pushed them to 5-0, they’ve certainly earned it. This week, it was the Chicago Bears playing in London, where they earned a 35-16 blowout victory vs the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Minnesota Vikings opponents >>> Chicago Bears opponents

Of course the Vikings 5-0 record is better than that of the Chicago Bears 4-2 tally. But it isn’t just about the teams’ records. It’s about what those records represent. The start of the Minnesota Vikings schedule has been a gauntlet of preseason Super Bowl contenders. The Bears schedule… has been anything but.

Yes, the Vikings started their season with a victory over the hapless New York Giants. But from there, they’ve knocked off 2023 Super Bowl runner-up San Francisco, along with 2024 championship hopefuls Houston, Green Bay, and Aaron Rodgers’ NY Jets.

It’s good for Chicago that Bears rookie Caleb Williams appears to be settling in. He torched the Jacksonville Jaguars for four touchdowns in London on Sunday. Any strong performance, regardless of opponent, is going to help push his development forward. That doesn’t mean he has handled any sorts of juggernauts though.

The Bears schedule so far… lol

Chicago’s two losses have come against the (5-1) Houston Texans, who looked lost at US Bank Stadium vs the Vikings a couple of weeks ago, and the (3-3) Indianapolis Colts. They are they only truly competent teams that the Bears have played. Calling the Colts competent may even be a reach. They’ve beaten the Titans (1-4), Rams (1-4) Panthers (1-5), and now Jaguars (1-5).

The Chicago Bears go on their bye, in week 7, as the Minnesota Vikings get back to work. When they return, Caleb Williams and the boys will have a big time test awaiting them, in the Washington Commanders (4-2). After that, they get the Cardinals and Patriots, before things really get interesting.

The Bears’ stretch run, leading up to the playoffs, includes the Packers, Vikings (x2), Lions, and 49ers. Minnesota isn’t going to run the table, and a loss is sure to be coming at some point. Still, the 5-0 start is infinitely more impressive than the NFC North foe’s production considering the opponents.
