Vikings QB Sam Darnold Catches Brutal Stray During Caleb Williams’ Press Conference
The Minnesota Vikings have officially secured a winning season, improving to 9-2 with a 30-27 overtime win over the Bears. Kicker John Parker Romo sealed the victory with a game-winning field goal, extending the Vikings Soldier Field streak to five games.
Caleb Williams, the first overall pick, has had a rookie season full of highs and lows. Still, he’s definitely flashed his potential, especially with his playmaking skills on display today.
Williams put up an impressive 340 yards and two touchdowns, showing he’s the real deal. Even though it wasn’t enough to secure the win, he left no doubt that he’s going to be a force to reckon with in the NFC North for years to come.
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams throws shade at Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold delivered another solid performance, throwing for 330 yards and two touchdowns. Even Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams took notice… but maybe not in the best way.
During his postgame press conference, Darnold’s fellow USC alumni got to talking a little too fast, and accidentally (we think) fired a pretty ugly stray at Sam, noting that he was surprised at how O’Connell ‘even had Sam Darnold balling’.

“Met him at the draft and all these different things, so when someone comes over to you, that’s having guys, even guys like Sam Darnold is out there balling. He’s been a great coach so far, I believe, and those encouraging words are important.”
Caleb Williams postgame Vikings vs Bears
Williams gave Coach Kevin O’Connell a lot of praise, saying they first met at the draft earlier this year. Williams threw a dig at Sam Darnold, saying he’s surprised by Darnold’s strong play this season, due to O’Connell’s coaching.

It’s also funny to note that both Darnold and Williams come from USC. Williams spent his last two seasons there, while Darnold played for the Trojans from 2015 to 2017.
This is just the beginning of what could be a long standing matchup between Kevin O’Connell and Caleb Williams. While O’Connell came out on top today, we can expect plenty of exciting and fun games between these two for years to come.
