Brian Flores Wants Danielle Hunter to Stay with Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings have hit a lull in their offseason but don’t let that fool you. There’s still plenty of work left to be done. One question yet to be answered is at outside linebacker, where the Vikings currently have three starters for just two positions.
Danielle Hunter and/or Za’Darius Smith
That has led to much speculation surrounding both Za’Darius Smith and Danielle Hunter. Smith has expressed his desire to leave but Hunter would demand a much higher return in any sort of trade. Those details, along with others, have led to all sorts of rumors involving both players.
But on Wednesday, Darren Wolfson (SKOR North, KSTP) was on the Mackey & Judd Podcast where he reported that new defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, wants Hunter to stay with the Vikings. That both guys are pumped to coach/play for one another.
“I did hear that Brian Flores is really really pumped up to coach Danielle; that Danielle, it’s mutual, is pumped up to play under Brian Flores. So do the Vikings find a way to give him some sort of bump, extend him? I think that will play out come May and June, maybe into July.”

Brian Flores will probably get what Brian Flores wants.
Brian Flores would not have taken the defensive coordinator job with the Minnesota Vikings unless he was guaranteed a large say in how the defense operated and what personnel would come and go during his tenure.
If he wants Danielle Hunter to stick around and Hunter wants to play for him, that is a huge positive development in a reunion actually coming to fruition. Could the two sides find common ground on a contract? That is the biggest question mark because there’s no way Hunter is playing under his current deal.
