2025 MN Vikings Draft Help – Latest Rumors, Predictions and What to Watch for in Round One

It’s the morning of the 2025 NFL Draft and the Minnesota Vikings, along with the rest of the league, are in Green Bay doing their final preparations before the Tennessee Titans go on the clock with the No. 1 overall pick, at 7 p.m. CDT.
The Vikings only have four picks, entering the first round of the NFL Draft. Their first selection is currently slotted at No. 24 overall. After that, Minnesota is not slotted to pick again until No. 97 (3rd round), over 70 picks later.
Current Minnesota Vikings Draft Picks (2025)
- Rd. 1 (24)
- Rd. 3 (97) – Comp Pick
- Rd. 5 (139) – from CLE
- Rd. 6 (187) – From SF

Will general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah be able to find a trade back partner, while still being securing one of the top 30 talents they covet at the end of the first round? If not, can the Vikings trade back into the second and still find that guy?
What should Minnesota Vikings fans look for early on Thursday night?
A lot of that will depend on how the first round unfolds in front of them. For example, there are rumors this morning that Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders could fall down the draft board, and still be available when the Vikings get on the clock at 24. If those rumors become reality, then No. 24 is suddenly more valuable.

What we don’t know is who the Minnesota Vikings would like to see fall to them at the end of the first round. As of Thursday morning, mock drafts and predictions for No. 24 overall are all over the place (see below). So, what should Vikings fans watch for, as picks come off the board 1-23?
Likely positions the MN Vikings are targeting during NFL Draft
- Interior Offensive Line
- Interior Defensive Line
- Safety
- Cornerback
- Tight End
- Running Back
- Wide Receiver
The Vikings are less likely to select EDGE, OT, QB, LB, WR or RB in the first round. So, if we want Kwesi & Co to have as many of their top targets on the board as possible at No. 24, then the more of those positions drafted early, the better. We want top interior linemen (DT, G), safeties and cornerbacks to fall tonight.
Latest NFL Mock Drafts say what about the Minnesota Vikings?
Many national NFL Draft “experts” believe the Vikings are slow-playing their interest in the top safeties of this class. In fact, South Carolina’s Nick Emmanwori is the only player mocked to Minnesota in more than one of the recent mock drafts listed below.
Others have them focused on the interior offensive line, defensive line and even running back. There aren’t any cornerbacks listed below but that is another position the Minnesota Vikings could be interested in.
Nick Emmanwori (S) South Carolina | Grey Zabel (iOL) North Dakota State | Malaki Starks (S) Georgia | Donovan Jackson (G) Ohio State | Omarion Hampton (RB) North Carolina | Derrick Harmon (DT) Oregon |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Jordan Reid (ESPN) | Alec Lewis (The Athletic) | Ben Goessling (Star Tribune) | Mel Kiper (ESPN) | Peter Schrager (ESPN) | Daniel Jeremiah (NFL.com) |
Matt Miller (ESPN) | |||||
Dane Brugler (The Athletic) |
Interestingly, the two local beat writers listed in the above table (Alec Lewis and Ben Goessling) both had the Minnesota Vikings trading back a few slots in the first round, before making their final selections.

In a perfect world, I’m guessing that’s exactly what the Vikings want to do. Grab another pick or two, while still making your first selection in the first round. That way, the draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium tonight has something to celebrate, instead of leaving empty-handed.
