Vikings Sign Former Gophers QB Tanner Morgan to Practice Squad

NCAA Football: Minnesota at Nebraska
Dylan Widger-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings are 1-3 on the 2023-24 season and the least of their (current) problems are at the quarterback position. Kirk Cousins remains one of the most reliable and productive QBs in the NFL. But on Thursday, the Vikings signed another well-known Minnesota quarterback, Tanner Morgan, to their practice squad.

Tanner Morgan played for the Minnnesota Gophers from 2018 to 2022 and ranks 2nd all time in both passing yards (9,469) and passing touchdowns (65), behind only Adam Weber (2007-2010) in both categories.

Morgan went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, but signed for and played with the Pittsburgh Steelers during training camp and preseason, before being cut. This will be Tanner’s second shot in the NFL. We’ll see if he can stick.
