Minnesota Vikings’ to Pursue Top Wide Receiver Next Offseason?
As of right now, the Minnesota Vikings have the best wide receiver in the NFL. Justin Jefferson is the highest paid wide receiver and rightfully so. Not only do they have Jefferson, but the Vikings spent their 2023 first-round draft pick to select wide receiver Jordan Addison.
Addison was one of the best performing rookie wide receivers last season, scoring a total of 10 touchdowns. This was tied for fourth-highest in the NFL and the most overall for a rookie wide receiver. Despite proving he belongs in the NFL, legal troubles continue to plague the young receiver.
Jordan Addison’s legal history since being drafted by the Minnesota Vikings
During the offseason of his rookie season, Addison was caught speeding going 140 miles per hour on I-94 in St. Paul. He later pleaded guilty to that speeding case. Fast forward almost one year later, Addison was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with .08% blood alcohol content. His arraignment and plea hearing is set for Oct 7, 2024 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

It’s becoming clear that Addison has a problem, and it’s unclear whether or not he will learn from these mistakes. There’s only so many chances a player gets before the team decides it’s time to part ways. That doesn’t mean the Minnesota Vikings’ will take further action now, but one local sports columnist believes he’s proven unreliable and the team will pursue another top wide receiver next offseason.
Local columnist says there’s “little doubt” the Vikings will pursue a top wide receiver next offseason
In Charley Walters (Pioneer Press) most recent column, he stated that there is “little doubt” the Minnesota Vikings will seek a top wide receiver through various avenues. He goes on further to say that the main reason is because Addison has proven “unreliable”.
“There is little doubt the Vikings, after the season, will seek, via free agency, trade or draft, another top WR because [Jordan] Addison has proven unreliable”, per @Charley_Walters.

This is a pretty bold proclamation from Walters. Especially, if Addison puts up another season like last year or even better. Addison would still be under contract for three more years (includes the fifth-year option) and would have leverage with the franchise tag after that if needed.
Future outlook for Minnesota Vikings’ Jordan Addison
As of now, the Minnesota Vikings’ aren’t going to take any further action on Addison. However, he is still expected to be suspended at some point for three games once the legal side plays out.
"The @Vikings anticipate that a suspension is coming at some point" for WR Jordan Addison and expect the suspension to come "either late this season or during the 2025 offseason", per @DanGrazianoESPN 👀

Outside of that, Addison is likely on thin ice from the team. One more mistake like this, it definitely could be his last. Given his talent, he may get a little longer leash but eventually… enough is enough. Hopefully, we no longer see Addison in the news for legal issues, and he can cement himself as star player for this team for years to come.
