Vikings Update on Jordan Addison Injury Seems Positive
It was a really good weekend for the Minnesota Vikings. Everything, on the field, went better than just about anyone could have imagined. The defense looked rejuvenated, and scored more points than it allowed. Meanwhile, Sam Darnold and Aaron Jones slipped seamlessly into the offense, which didn’t skip a beat from last season.
But not everyone had a great individual day. At the top of that list of “difficult day “Tough Day” list was Jordan Addison, who injured his left ankle while being tackled in the 3rd quarter. He walked to the locker room, under his own power, with a towel disappointedly draped over his head.

One day later, though, head coach Kevin O’Connell gave an Addison update to media members at TCO Performance Center, in Eagan. Coach reported that Jordan is dealing with “pretty significant soreness”, but didn’t rule him out for this weekend’s matchup vs the San Francisco 49ers.

Obviously, we don’t want the Minnesota Vikings No. 2 wide receiver to be dealing with “significant soreness”. But at the same time, the fact that he is still a possible go on Sunday is positive news, given how devastating ankle sprains can be.
Vikings need Addison on the field
Jordan Addison caught 3 passes (on four targets) for 35 yards, prior to leaving this weekend’s contest. In 2023, the USC star busted onto the league scene with 73 catches (108 targets) for 943 yards and 10 touchdowns. Without a doubt, Addison is one of the most talented young route runners in the world.

In week one, the Vikings played one of the worst opponents on their schedule, in the New York Giants. If this team really wants to grab the attention of its NFL peers, they will beat the Niners in week two.
That would tell every other team in the NFC that this Minnesota squad is not taking a year off, as it waits for its QB of the future to recover from knee surgery. Having Jordan Addison on the field is crucial to making that happen.

The Vikings offense is already without TJ Hockenson. If you take the WR2 out, as well, it becomes a lot more difficult for Justin Jefferson and Aaron Jones to find open space. And if that happens, so could a regression to the mean, for QB Sam Darnold.
