Royce Lewis Starts Season 2-for-2 with HR Before Leaving Opening Day Injured
Well, it was a classic day at the ballfield for Royce Lewis. He hit a solo home run in his first at-bat, letting fans know that he was ready to start 2024 the exact same way he finished 2023. It was a pretty good way to start a new season.

Royce Lewis leaves Minnesota Twins Opening Day with injury
Then, after a base hit in his second at bat, Carlos Correa came up to and hit a double down the left field line that had Lewis on his horse and thinking about a 1st-to-home run… until he twisted something rounding 2nd base and was forced to stop at 3rd. It’s being reported as a “a right quad injury” per Dan Hayes (The Athletic).

If the Twins are forced to put Royce Lewis on injured reserve, their options are already growing scarce, especially when you remember that Brooks Lee just went on IR with back spasms and Jose Miranda, who started at 3rd base on Opening Day last year for the Minnesota Twins, was limited to 1st base reps only during spring training.
Could we see one of the organization’s top prospects, Austin Martin, get the big league call before his minor league in St. Paul even starts? It’s possible…
If the Royce Lewis injury is long term, #MNTwins have multiple options dsepite the early IL stint for Brooks Lee (back spasms).

The estimable @dohyoungpark reminded me Jose Miranda is limited to 1B reps this spring (haven't been in camp, y'all).
Austin Martin could be up.
