MSF Daily – 7/29/17

Well, it was a relatively slow day today compared to the whirlwind week we have had in Minnesota. Here are the stories we followed throughout the day.

Latest Kyrie – Cavs / Wiggins Rumors:

The many hats of LeBron James

However, these next two stories sure seem to lend to the idea that the Wolves ARE NOT willing to part with Wiggins:

Vikings Training Camp Notes From Friday:

The Twins are playing for their MN Jobs late in Oakland tonight:

The Twins hope to end their free fall tonight in Oakland. If they can’t, the team might look different when it hits the same field tomorrow.  The trade deadline is at the beginning of next week and the Twins have fallen to 6 games behind the Indians for 1st place in the Central Division.

It seems clear that the Twins will become sellers if they can’t get things back on track after this weekend.

Buxton had a good start to his rehab assignment:

Update: Jaime Garcia and Twins Win 6-3 Late in Oakland last night:

Jaime Garcia made his first start for the Twins last night and halted a 4 game losing streak.  That’s a good start. Garcia was shaky throughout the game seemingly giving up walks about every time Dick and Roy were discussing his great control and command. However, much like Santana in some of his shaky starts this year, Garcia was usually able to make the good pitch when he needed it.

Adrianza started the scoring with an RBI single, scoring Grossman. Then, in the 4th inning, things would unravel for the A’s on defense. They committed 1 error (should have been 2 but OAK official scorers seem to be looking out for their team). The Twins scored 2 runs on hits, 1 run on an error, and 1 run on a wild pitch.

The A’s would come back in the bottom of the inning to score two. Both teams would get one more in the 5th. That made it 6-3, going into the 6th inning. That is where the score would stay for the rest of the game…. good thing because I fell asleep on my couch.

The Twins DO NOT have a choice but to win all weekend. They need to make up a little ground before we hit the end of July and the trade deadline is passed. Both Cleveland AND Kansas City won AGAIN last night so the Twins remain 6 games and 4 games behind those two teams respectively. A loss could mean selling the likes of Kintzler, Santana, Garcia, Castro, Dozier, or anyone else above the age of 25.

Here is the full game recap from Twins Daily.

Like I said, today was pretty uneventful. When that changes we will be ready. We don’t like sitting on our hands…
