The Minnesota Timberwolves have finished their 2024 Summer League and are now setting their sights on the 2024-25 regular season. Fans have plenty to look forward to, as rookie Rob Dillingham made a strong impression despite some shooting struggles.

Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Rob Dillingham shows potential during 2024 Summer League

The Minnesota Timberwolves’ Summer League roster included drafted rookies Rob Dillingham and Terrance Shannon, undrafted rookies Gabe Kalscheur and Tyler Wahl, and returning bench players Josh Minott, Leonard Miller, and Daishen Nix.

The Timberwolves played five games in the Vegas Summer League, winning four of them. Their only loss was a close one, falling by just two points to the Philadelphia 76ers.

One key factor in the Timberwolves’ strong performance was point guard Rob Dillingham, for whom the team traded up for. So far, it looks like that decision is paying off, as Dillingham delivered an impressive showing during Summer League play.

Stats

In his first game wearing a Timberwolves uniform, Rob Dillingham struggled with his shooting, making only 2-of-12 shots and scoring just 4 points. Despite this, he still made a significant impact on the team by grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists. Once he found his rhythm, he was off and running.

Throughout the Summer League, Dillingham faced continuous struggles with his shot. He managed shooting percentages of 16%, 35%, 30%, and 28% in his first four games. However, he finally broke through in the final game with an impressive 61% accuracy rate.

Dillingham continued to improve and made a bigger impact with each game he played during Summer League. He eventually closed out his Summer League performance with a double-double, scoring 25 points and dishing out 12 assists against the Orlando Magic.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have a lot to look forward to if Rob Dillingham keeps developing and shining like he did during the Summer League. He could very well become Mike Conley’s successor, adding to the bright future for the Timberwolves.
