Anthony Edwards’ New Netflix Series Has a Release Date
The Minnesota Timberwolves are still a little way off from starting their 2024-25 NBA season. They’ll look to make it an extra round this year with their eyes set on the NBA Finals. An appetizer for the season debuts this fall and Anthony Edwards will be a star.
Starting five debuts with Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards
By now Netflix has seen a recipe for success by following athletes in a close-up docuseries style. First there was Formula 1: Drive to Survive and it paved the way for Quarterback, Receiver, and Full Swing. Anthony Edwards becomes the next star, joining Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson, as Minnesota players featured by the streaming company. He makes his debut on October 9.

Starting 5 will prominently feature Edwards throughout the series. He was teammates with two of the additional four players during the Olmypics. Edwards soaked up plenty of knowledge from LeBron James and Jayson Tatum during their gold medal trip in Paris. He will also be joining by former Timberwolves heel Jimmy Butler and Kings forward Domantas Sabonis.
The intimate viewing experience allows fans to see behind the curtain. In the trailer Edwards can be seen talking with both Jamal Murray and Kevin Durant during their respective playoff series. He is also shown off the court just being himself, and that is the personality that have drawn so many faces to wonder if he can be the face of the league.

The NBA has an innate ability to develop superstars. Smaller rosters, the ability to take over a game individually, and marketing opportunities galore all exist. The NFL certainly draws more fans than any other league across the country. The global interest for the NBA should set Starting 5 up to be of worldwide interest.

If Anthony Edwards is to take the next step for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season, a streaming show would be a nice launching point. Between his shoes and on court performance last season, he has elevated his star status. Another step towards becoming a scoring leader or grabbing more individual accolades, his presence will only grow at just 23 years old.

Most of the popular Netflix docuseries to follow athletes wind up being right somewhere around six or seven episodes. If they check in at about an hour or so apiece, you could watch them in a shorter timespan than the Western Conference Finals on replay.
