Marco Rossi Scores Goal Abroad in Front of Family, Friends but Not Girlfriend…
On Saturday morning in Stockholm Sweden, as part of the ‘NHL Global Hockey Series’, a handful of Minnesota Wild players from Europe and Russia got a chance to play an NHL hockey game in front of family and friends for the first time ever.
Many of the kin in attendance at Avicii Arena do not even get an opportunity to stream Wild games live. Hell, enough fans in Minnesota struggle with that problem… One of the players getting a rare chance to impress those close to him was 22-year-old, Marco Rossi, who had mom, dad, family, friends and *we thought* his girlfriend in attendance

Marco Rossi scores Wild lone bittersweet goal
The rookie didn’t disappoint, either, scoring the Wild’s first and only goal of the game; a 2nd period tip in front of the net that showed off his impressive hand-eye coordination.

When the 2nd period ended, the Minnesota Wild were winning 1-0 and the hero of the game, to that point, got the intermission interview with Bally Sports North’s Kevin Gorg. Rossi was excited and expressed how cool it was to score in front of so many loved ones, who rarely get to see him in action.
But Marco contradicted Michael Russo’s earlier report that his girlfriend was in attendance, too. Oof…
"I think the most important thing right now is to keep it simple."

Gorg: “What’s this week been like? You’ve got family and friends here, we’re not far from Austria. It’s a big celebration of hockey and oh, by the way, you’ve got the only goal so far!”
Rossi: “Yeah, I mean, it’s really nice. You don’t play that many times a year [in front of loved ones] so I just gotta enjoy my family here, friends… Unfortunately, my girlfriend couldn’t make it, but um… it’s uh.. um.. you know close friends who are here, they don’t see me enough in America, you know, so it’s really nice that they can see me here. I have a lot of friends and people here who I’ve known since I was a small kid. So, it’s really nice they can see me for the first time in the NHL.
A quick Google search taught me that Marco Rossi’s girlfriend has a name. It is Stefanie and, according to her Instagram bio, she still loves him always. Phew…

Rossi playing well… the Minnesota Wild are not
As for Rossi’s hockey, he’s been one of the most consistent Minnesota Wild players so far this season, which says a lot about both his improvement and how poorly the team has played through the first month of the season. His 6 goals rank 3rd on the team, his 8 points tied for 6th.
As for the hockey game that Rossi’s goal was scored in, it ended in a 2-1 shootout loss for the Wild, their 4th-straight L (8th in last 10 games). But, at least Marco’s relationship status appears to be in better shape that the Wild season.
