Braeden Carrington Back with Gophers Basketball

There has been a lot of off-field news surrounding Braeden Carrington recently. It started when he stepped away from the Minnesota Gophers basketball team citing a need to focus on his mental health. Then, over the weekend, a report dropped that he had plans to enter the transfer portal, instead of going back to the Gophers.

When that rumor started making its way around the internet, Braeden and his mom took to social media to dispute it publicly. Now, according to Minnesota men’s basketball coach, Ben Johnson, Carrington is back with the team, though he will not play on Friday vs Maine.
Ben Johnson said Carrington has been fully committed to the program and getting back to playing since he took time away for himself. "I could tell he was in a good spot," Johnson said about Carrington returning this week. https://t.co/Ggx6badXgO

Braeden will step back into a Minnesota guard rotation that seems much improved from a couple of weeks ago. Mike Mitchell Jr has showed another level of his play and confidence, of late, and freshman phenom Cam Christie will have a starting job, it’s just a matter of when.
In 24.7 minutes per game, Carrington is averaging 5.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He’s also been the defender Ben Johnson likes to put on the other team’s best perimeter player.
